Grading With Canvas Rubrics

You can make grading much easier for yourself and more explicit for students by adding rubrics to your Canvas site. Rubrics only need to be entered into Canvas once and can be reused across all your assignments and across all your courses.

How do you add rubrics to Canvas activities?

The Canvas rubric feature is available in any graded assignment, quiz or discussion. To add a rubric to one of these item types, the process is very similar but slightly different.

Troubleshoot Media Recordings

Both instructors and students have recently been encountering issues with using the Record Media tool in Canvas. When users try to record video in the Canvas interface, Flash does not load properly and they are left with a loading screen.

Student Enrollment Changes

You may have noticed that you can no longer manually add students to Canvas courses. This change was implemented to adhere to the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) and Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards. More information about student enrollment changes and how to add students to courses.

Turnitin Outage Saturday, September 22

The Turnitin application (used to flag plagiarism) will be unavailable on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018, from 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM. During the outage, students and faculty will not be able to submit work to Turnitin. As a result, instructors are encouraged to set assignment due dates on Canvas to avoid this scheduled maintenance window.

Problem with Export Grades from Canvas, Import to PeopleSoft

Moodle Migration

Now is a great time to request Moodle course migration into Canvas!

We will migrate your Moodle course and build a Canvas course so it will be ready for you.

Please let us know which course you'd like migrated by filling out the migration form. We ask 4-6 weeks for migration.

Fall 2018 Canvas Course Shells Available

All Fall 2018 courses set up in PeopleSoft are available as an unpublished Canvas placeholder site. These auto-generated course sites automatically appear on your Canvas Dashboard if you are the primary or secondary instructor assigned in PeopleSoft for that course.

These course sites are ready to start building in from scratch or importing existing course sites.

The course sites are unpublished and will not be visible to enrolled students until you publish the site.
